Randy Daughtry (WCMA Open Champion), Richard Costner (WCMA Senior Champion) and Mickey Nance (WCMA Super Senior Champion) each led their respective division after 36 holes of the 54-hole Wayne County Men's Amateur golf tournament. Heavy rains over the Goldsboro Municpal Golf Course caused the tournament to be called, and the leaders after day-two took the trophies home by default. GMGC Club Pro Rick Atkins checked the course while a light rain continued to fall. It was his opinion, along with WMCA committee members, that the course was unplayable.
Daughtry took a one-stroke lead into the final round after he took the lead from opening day leader Tim Rose, who fired a two-under 69 at Southern Wayne Country Club.
Costner carded a 72 on Saturday at Lane Tree Golf Course to also take a one-stroke lead into Sunday's final round action ahead of Ben King.
Nance fired a two-under par 70, the lowest round of day two, to put himself in the driver's seat going into the final round at Goldsboro on Sunday. Joseph McLamb and Harvey Reinhardt trail by just two strokes, but never got the chance to close the gap.
